OPTIONS is the umbrella term for the four educational services managed by Croydon Community School in the North Eastern suburban region of Melbourne. Apart from Croydon Community School, which is a small secondary school, OPTIONS comprises of [email protected], the Woori Yallock Farm School and the Capacity Building team.
These educational services cater for students who:
have disengaged from mainstream schooling or
may be at risk of disengaging from school or
demonstrate behaviours that prevent them from engaging positively in a mainstream learning environment.
[email protected] is a re-engagement facility for young people between the ages of 12 – 17 who have experienced prolonged periods of absence from school. Please contact the school on (03) 9724 2900 for further details about the program.
The Farm School in Woori Yallock provides programs and support for students who experience social and emotional challenges which impact on them at school. Currently, the Woori Yallock Farm School offers the Certificate I in Conservation and Land Management to a small number of local schools but is also available for excursions.
The Farm School is rich in indigenous elements and is set on a beautiful, historic farm site in Woori Yallock. Please contact the Farm School on (03) 9724 2990 for more information.
The Capacity Building team is a small group of highly experienced and appropriately qualified teachers who support teachers and leaders who are working with children who demonstrate challenging behaviours. Capacity Building can suggest:
• intervention strategies based in the latest quality research sought from around the world
• professional development tailored to meet individual school needs
• assistance to prepare a comprehensive range of response strategies for students who are not currently succeeding, including safety plans, and the implementation of educational assessment reports.
For further information or referral to these programs please contact the Capacity Building team on (03) 9724 2980.
