sport PROGRAM

At Croydon Community School, our Sports Program is all about connection, growth, and fun. We foster an engaging and individualised approach to sport that aligns with each student’s Learning Plan and our big-picture philosophy of “one student at a time in a community of learners.”

We help students discover sports they love or ones they’d like to try by working closely with the local sporting community to create safe, inclusive, and supportive environments where they can learn, grow, and become part of a team.

Our Basketball Program is a standout, partnering with community clubs to offer 1:1 coaching, mentoring, and pathways for team participation and connection. Meanwhile, Afternoon Sport provides opportunities for student vs. staff matches in football, cricket, volleyball, and softball building strong relationships and a sense of belonging through friendly competition.

Senior students take on the role of mentors and leaders, modelling teamwork, empathy, and positive behaviour for younger peers. As a true community school, we meet students where they are at fostering participation, motivation, and a sense of achievement for all.

Through incursions and excursions, our students are always active and engaged from basketball to rugby, footy to swimming exploring their interests and helping shape the program around their passions. Every student has the chance to experience the joy, and wellbeing benefits that sport brings.

At the heart of it all is our central basketball court, a hub of laughter, connection, and the famous CCS Downball culture, where fun and community come together every day.
